How we will work together

Steps

  1. You complete your details on the 'get in touch' page and I send you a request form.
  2. You complete the request form and return to me via email for a cost estimation. (The final quote will only be possible once I see the items I have to work with).
  3. When you accept the cost estimation, I will send you my address and the item preparation and packaging instructions.
  4. You send the box of items to me via courier. (I recommend a courier service that delivers to the door, which is how your final article will be shipped to you upon completion).
  5. I confirm receipt of your box via email, and we arrange a suitable time for a WhatsApp or Zoom call to discuss the finer details. I will provide a date by which you will receive a rough layout and a final quote for your approval.
  6. I lay out the items very roughly, before cutting anything, and send you a photo of this preliminary design, along with notes where necessary. After we agree the details of the piecing and quilting, I prepare the final quote and give you an expected completion date.
  7. I begin work on your article once I have received the proof of payment of the 70% deposit. This constitutes a binding contract between me, the quilter, and you, the client.
  8. I complete your article and send you a photo, as proof, along with the final invoice.
  9. You send the proof of payment of the outstanding amount.
  10. I package and courier the article and any unused items back to your door.

Frequently Asked Questions about Custom Quilts

Have a question that is not covered below? Get in touch ... angie@storiesbyquilt.co.za

With pleasure, please complete a separate form for each article. When you send the box, please put each article’s items in separate plastic bags marked with a note on masking tape.

I try to avoid using any sections of your items with stains or holes, where that is not possible the area in question will be cut out and/or covered with a piece of matching fabric, or I will do something creative to cover it up.

I suggest that the items to be included for quilts, cushions, or table coverings, which would need to be washed from time to time, should be washable. A wall hanging would be more suitable for the inclusion of non-washable items.

Please place these in a clear plastic bag (Ziploc bag, freezer bag, filing sleeve etc.), write your instructions on masking tape, and stick it to the bag. If you’re not using a Ziploc bag, please tape the bag closed to ensure the item stays put.

Any whole items that are not used will be returned with the completed article.

If you need any cut-offs returned to you, please mark these items with masking tape so that I know to collect these as I work.

If you are in the George / Mossel Bay / Knysna area we can arrange to meet, however if you are further afield in South Africa, courier is the most reliable way of sending parcels. I use Courier Guy and have found them highly reliable, and well-priced.
